For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you. – Isaiah 41:13
Those words God spoke through His prophet Isaiah to the nation of Israel. In spite of all their rebellion against him, God still offered the promise of his help and guidance. The faithful remnant in Israel listened and accepted the Lord’s promise. But, sadly, the nation as a whole went on in its sinful ways, rejecting the Lord and his promises to help.
This promise still applies to all who fear the Lord and follow His Word. We must pass through many difficult times in life on our way to the kingdom of heaven, but we go forward with the promise of our God, that he takes hold of your right hand to guide you. He calls out with divine encouragement, “Do not fear, I will help you.”
Can there be any doubt that God will help you? He sent his only Son to die for you, to redeem you, to justify you before him. Having paid that great price for your redemption, surely he will also help you and guide you through everything life can throw at you.
In the hymn we sing:
Lord, take my hand and lead me Upon life’s way; Direct, protect and feed me From day to day. Without your grace and favour I go astray; So take my hand, O Savior, And lead the way. |
Lord, when the tempest rages, I need not fear; For you, the Rock of Ages, Are always near. Close by your side abiding, I fear no foe, For when your hand is guiding, In peace I go. |
Lord, when the shadows lengthen And night has come, I know that you will strengthen My steps toward home, And nothing can impede me, O blessed Friend! So take my hand and lead me Unto the end. -Pastor Anderson |
