Heritage Lutheran Church is a Bible-believing, Confessional Lutheran Church that proclaims the true Word of God.

Why is our church named “Heritage?”

The word “heritage” is related to the words “inheritance” and “Inherit.” All of these words refer to the things passed down from one generation to another. Inheritances are usually physical things like money and possessions, but the idea of heritage also includes culture, tradition, and relationships.

Spiritual heritage is the most valuable, important, and meaningful inheritance passed down from one generation to another. Christians celebrate, share, and pass down the truth, grace, and wisdom of God’s Word. It is a heritage that is unlike anything else in the world: it’s a heritage our church loves to share.

The Heritage We Love To Share

The Timeless Truths of God’s Word

In an ever-changing and exhausting world, the Bible is a timeless treasure. It provides the unchanging and refreshing truth of God to hearts, minds, and souls. Heritage’s mission is to lovingly and consistently share God’s grace and truth with every generation in its community. The church carries out this mission through worship services, Bible studies, and pastoral counseling, and personal witness. Heritage Lutheran Church also shares God’s Word with the next and younger generation through its school, a preschool providing Christian education for 3,4, and 5-year-old children.

Traditional and Meaningful Worship

Heritage Lutheran Church is a liturgical church, meaning it uses the liturgy in its worship services. The liturgy is another form of heritage, a traditional and meaningful way of worship passed down for generations.  The liturgy has been used by churches for centuries as a guide for worship. The format allows the congregation to participate actively through speaking, listening, Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and singing.  Following the liturgy ensures that each and every service includes prayer, praise, assurance, blessing, and God’s words of grace and truth. The structure of the liturgy is repetitive, building familiarity and understanding of the truths of the Bible.

A Warm, Supportive Community

God created people to be relational, to need the support and care of others throughout life. For centuries, churches have met this need by providing a place for us to worship, serve, and receive support – together!   Heritage Lutheran is a warm and welcoming congregation that has both a church and a school. Both our church and school foster deep connections, supportive relationships, and a strong sense of community. The congregation regularly gets together, whether that be “Science Night” in the gymnasium, food trucks in the parking lot, or small group Bible studies after church. Fellowship is another beautiful tradition and heritage passed down for generations! (To learn more about Heritage’s school, visit heritagelutheranschool.org).

Heritage Lutheran Church has been serving the spiritual needs of the Apple Valley and surrounding communities for 50 years. Our church and school are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS), a group of 120 churches working together to share God’s Word with the world.
